What’s the difference between powdered and non powdered gloves?Â
When latex gloves are powdered they are easier to put on, especially if your hands are damp. However powdered latex gloves are not recommended for use in the NHS beacause the powder can carry latex proteins and be more likely to aggravate latex allergies.Â
Powder Free latex gloves are either polymer coated and surface treated or online chlorinated to help give a smooth finish when fitting the gloves and to reduce extractable latex proteins to reduce the risk of allergic reactions.
How do I know if I’m allergic to latex gloves?
Allergies to latex can cause itching, hives and redness. More severe allergies may also cause breathlessness. If any of these conditions arise whilst handling latex seek medical attention to confirm the alllergy and avoid latex gloves; instead opt for nitrile gloves.
